Encryption

Your data is scrambled so outsiders cannot read it.

What is it?

Encryption turns readable data into scrambled data that only an authorised system can unlock. It protects information in two situations: while it travels over the internet and while it is stored.

How it works in NexousHub

  1. In transit: connections to NexousHub use HTTPS, so data cannot be read on the way between your device and our servers.
  2. At rest: stored data is protected so that a stolen disk or backup is not readable on its own.
  3. Passwords are never stored as plain text.
  4. Access keys and secrets are kept separate from the application code.

Example

Someone on public Wi-Fi tries to intercept traffic while an employee downloads a payslip. Because the connection is encrypted, all they capture is unreadable data.

Why it matters

  • Protects payroll, HR and finance data
  • Safe use on public or shared networks
  • A basic expectation of customers and auditors
