Audit trails
A record of who did what, and when.
What is it?
An audit trail is an automatic log of important actions in the system. It answers three questions about any change: who did it, what changed and when.
How it works in NexousHub
- Actions such as editing a salary, approving an expense or deleting a record are logged automatically.
- Each entry stores the person, the time and the before and after values.
- Admins can search and filter the log by user, module or date.
- Logs can be exported when an auditor or manager asks for proof.
Example
An employee's bank details change shortly before payroll. The audit trail shows who edited them, at what time and the old and new values, so the change can be verified in minutes.
Why it matters
- Accountability for sensitive changes
- Faster investigation of mistakes
- Easier compliance and audit reviews
- Discourages misuse
